As a Data Scientist, you play a key role in transforming behavioural data into actionable insights that drive business value, with a strong focus on e-commerce and marketing automation. You will develop and maintain statistical and machine learning models that enhance customer engagement, optimise user experiences, and improve decision-making for our clients.

Your responsibilities span the full lifecycle of data science models—from research, design, and proof-of-concept to production deployment, monitoring, and continuous optimisation. Working within an agile development environment, you will ensure that models balance complexity, scalability, and maintainability while adhering to software engineering best practices. Additionally, you will contribute to the refinement of our Customer Data Platform and recommendation systems.

YOUR ROLE

• Develop and optimise machine learning models for our recommendation engine and e-commerce products using Python.
• Improve and maintain existing models to ensure performance, scalability, and robustness in production.
• Gain proficiency in our proprietary domain-specific programming language used for key recommendation engine components.
• Design and maintain data pipelines and API integrations to support real-time and batch processing of behavioural data.
• Assist in debugging and troubleshooting data science-related issues in collaboration with the Support and Engineering teams.
• Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code following software engineering best practices.
• Ensure high-quality standards through testing, documentation, and continuous integration workflows.
• Collaborate with backend developers, UX/UI designers, product managers, and customer service teams to align data science solutions with business needs.
• Present complex data insights in an accessible way to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Coach and mentor junior data scientists, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused environment.

IF YOU ARE A PERSON WHO GAINED

• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Strong backend development background (e.g., .NET/Azure/Python) and experience in transitioning into data science.
• Experience in end-to-end data science projects, including model development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Strong mathematical modelling and statistical skills, with a focus on software-level implementation.
• A good sense of balance between model complexity, generalisation, scalability, performance, and maintenance costs under an agile and continuous development cycle.
• Proficiency in Python for statistical programming and general-purpose development in C#.
• Experience with Azure infrastructure, including Kubernetes and Azure Pipelines.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain data-driven insights to diverse audiences.
• Excellent English (verbal and written)

ADDITIONAL ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS

• Experience with: Azure, DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Databricks, Cassandra, SQL.
• Experience with Delta Lake and Spark for handling large-scale data.
• Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and other NLP technologies in a multi-agent system.
• Background in eCommerce product development.
• Experience in developing recommendation systems.
• Hands-on experience with deep learning (PyTorch, TensorFlow, MXNet).
