Platform Engineer

OpenShift Platform & SDN Engineer Contract or Perm

Location: EU (NATO environment)

Clearance Required: (EU Citizens only)

We are looking for a highly skilled OpenShift Platform & SDN Engineer to join a global team supporting mission-critical, telco-grade cloud environments. This role combines deep Red Hat OpenShift expertise, container platforms, and advanced networking/SDN knowledge, working closely with customers and internal teams across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and operate Red Hat OpenShift (RHOCP) platforms in enterprise and telco-grade environments
• Add and manage OpenShift projects, namespaces, and blueprints
• Participate in architecture and design discussions for cloud-native platforms
• Provide Level 2/3 support, troubleshooting complex platform and network issues
• Handle and resolve network outages with rapid root cause analysis
• Develop and execute Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and deployment acceptance tests
• Create implementation guides, configuration templates, and deployment plans
• Support and guide customers during SDN and OpenShift deployments
• Collaborate with global teams and coordinate with partner vendors
• Provide technical leadership and direction based on customer business requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• Red Hat OpenShift Platform (mandatory)
• Strong experience with containers and Kubernetes (Docker, OpenShift)
• Deep expertise in SDN (Software Defined Networking)
• Strong L2/L3 networking knowledge:
• BGP, OSPF, IPv4 / IPv6
• DNS, DHCP, VPNs, routing & switching
• Load balancers (hardware & software) and traffic flow analysis
• Experience with Linux/Unix systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Hands-on troubleshooting of Cisco network hardware
• Experience with virtualization technologies: vSphere, KVM, Xen, Red Hat Virtualization
• Exposure to OpenStack and IaaS platforms
• Strong CLI experience with OpenShift modules

Nice to Have

• Red Hat OpenShift certification
• Scripting experience (Shell, Python)
• Automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Salt
• Experience designing telco-grade network architectures

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working with customers and distributed global teams
