Our client are a large organisation operating across 40+ sites throughout South East Queensland, and are looking for a hands-on Network Engineer who's ready for a role with real scope and genuine autonomy.

The opportunity
This isn't a break-fix job. You'll be coming in with a clear mandate: understand the network from the ground up, get it documented and to a solid baseline, then drive a consolidation and modernisation agenda that genuinely reduces complexity and adds value to the organisation.

You'll be leading project work: rationalising disparate systems, consolidating products and shaping what the network looks like going forward.

What you'll be working with

HP Aruba (switching, routing, wireless, ClearPass)
Sophos firewall and security stack
BGP, MPLS, VPNs (IPSec & SSL), VLANs, Spanning Tree
Multi-site enterprise environments
ITIL/CAB change management processes
Confluence for documentation

You'll also have access to external networking consultants and vendor escalation paths through HP and Sophos - you won't be on an island.

What we're looking for

3-5 years' experience in network administration / network engineering
Solid hands-on experience with firewalls and security (Sophos highly regarded)
Strong routing and switching fundamentals (BGP, MPLS, VLANs, Layer 2/3)
Enterprise wireless experience (Aruba preferred)
Comfortable working across multi-site environments and engaging vendors
ITIL-aware, CAB-process familiar
A documentation mindset - you write things down and keep them current
Strong communicator who can engage stakeholders at all levels

The details

Location: Hybrid - 2 days/week at their Brisbane North offices
Travel: Occasional site visits across SEQ (Gold Coast to Noosa, and west to Ipswich)
Driver's licence required
