Role: UI/UX Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking a UI/UX Developer with strong expertise in Figma, React, and design systems to build intuitive, scalable, and user-centric digital experiences. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of design thinking and front-end development skills, with exposure to modern technologies including GenAI-enabled experiences and data-driven applications.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop user-centric, responsive UI/UX solutions using Figma and React

Create and maintain scalable design systems and component libraries

Translate design mockups into high-quality front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/React)

Collaborate with product, business, and engineering teams to deliver intuitive user experiences

Conduct usability testing and user research to improve product design

Ensure accessibility (WCAG standards) and best UI/UX practices are followed

Contribute to design consistency and standardization across platforms

Integrate UI components with backend/data systems where required

Explore and support integration of GenAI-based UI features (RAG, prompt-driven UX)

Required Skills

UI/UX & Frontend

Strong experience with Figma (design, prototyping, wireframes)

Hands-on experience with React.js and component-based architecture

Expertise in design systems, reusable components, and UI frameworks

Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript

Understanding of responsive and mobile-first design

User Experience

Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles

Experience with usability testing and user research

Expertise in building design systems at scale

Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)

Nice to Have

Exposure to GenAI platforms, RAG, and prompt-driven UI design

Basic understanding of data systems (SQL/NoSQL, ETL concepts) for data-driven UI integration

Experience working in enterprise-scale applications

Tools & Methodologies

Experience with Figma, design tooling

Working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Jira, Confluence)

Soft Skills

Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration

Ability to bridge design and development teams

Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
