About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior .NET Developer / Application Architect to lead the modernization and further development of a mission-critical e-counter platform. This freelance opportunity places you at the heart of digital transformation, empowering citizens and organizations with seamless access to essential services. You’ll architect, build, and elevate a platform that matters — and your expertise will shape the future of public digital services.

The e-counter platform is the digital gateway for permits, recognitions, subsidies, notifications, and registrations. As the technical architect and senior developer, you will drive the evolution of this platform, ensuring it remains robust, secure, and future-ready. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and accessibility of public services, supporting modernization and integration with critical eHealth infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing high-level technical architecture for the e-counter application and its infrastructure
• Developing detailed technical designs and guidelines for the development team
• Leading complex implementations and integrations across the platform
• Supporting and mentoring developers on advanced technical challenges
• Ensuring software quality, maintainability, and performance at every stage
• Driving modernization and migration projects for existing applications
• Collaborating with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs
• Championing secure application development and compliance with eHealth standards

Technical Skills

• Minimum 7 years of experience as a fullstack .NET developer
• Expertise in ASP.NET MVC and .NET Core
• Hands-on experience with React and/or Angular
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps and Git version control
• Strong background in technical application migrations and modernization projects
• Experience with SOAP and REST integrations
• Advanced SQL and database management skills
• Deep understanding of security and secure application development
• Familiarity with eHealth platform basic services
• Experience with e-counter applications in a government context is highly valued

Language Proficiency

• Dutch: Native level required

• Freelance position
• Project duration: 8 months, with possible extension in 3-month increments
• Full-time engagement
• Partial remote work possible
• Location: Brussels, Belgium
