Sr. Network Design Engineer – Core/Broadband

What you'll do:

1. Elicit business and technical requirements working with the various stakeholders during requirements gathering phase.
2. Author both high level and low-level design documents to support Telco services including presenting such designs for internal technical and stakeholder sign off.
3. Perform audit, analysis and propose solutions for migrating from one platform or design to another, providing support for testing and fulfilment teams.
4. Own software/hardware selection, perform bug scrubs and security vulnerability assessments and work with test and implementation engineers to review test plans, defects, test reports, MOP and change tickets.
5. Participate in vendor selection by providing technical requirements into RFP document and by doing technical evaluation including Technical Proof of Concept testing.
6. Steer network elements’ feature roadmap by working closely with our strategic technology partners for software release planning, budget submissions and provide inputs for business case preparation.
7. Drive platform improvements, enable automation and implement new solutions that enable DevOps capabilities and support business strategy of building once and deploy multiple time.

Must have skills

1. Detailed understanding and experience of ISP subscriber technologies including IPoE (DHCPv4 & DHCPv6), PPPoE, L2TP, RADIUS and MAP-T.
2. Detailed understanding and experience of architecture and design of telco networks using ISIS, MPLS, Segment Routing, MP-BGP, LDP, HQoS.
3. Strong understanding of layer 2 & 3 VPN technologies, EVPN, T-LDP, VPLS and IPv6 and IPv4aaS technologies.
4. Strong understanding of BNG products from Nokia and Huawei.
5. Nokia NRS2 and SRA certifications

Good to have skills

1. Ability to apply Open-config and Vendor specific NETCONF-YANG models, JSON and XML payload for network automation to configure and manage routers would be advantageous.
2. Solid understanding of python, Ansible and config management via GIT
3. ISP subscriber technology experience such as Nokia SROS, BNG, IPoE, PPPoE.
