Backend Engineer for an AI-native accounting company

Most "AI features" are wrappers around an API call. We're building something harder: a multi-agent system that actually does accounting work. Autonomously.

You'll own the orchestration layer. The infrastructure that decides which agent handles what, how they collaborate, and how we scale from hundreds to thousands of businesses without breaking.

We've built the first version. Now we need someone to make it robust, scalable, and ready for what's next.

You will:

• Extend and scale our multi-agent orchestration system
• Build on existing infrastructure to power autonomous accounting workflows
• Create tool integrations with accounting engines and partners
• Make architectural decisions that affect everything downstream

You have:

• Deep experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Built systems that coordinate multiple services or agents
• Understanding of LLMs in production – prompting, tool calling, failure handling
• Experience with PostgreSQL at scale
• Strong opinions on how to build reliable, observable systems

Bonus:

• Experience with MCP or similar agent frameworks
• Background in event-driven architecture or workflow engines
• Knowledge of Norwegian accounting systems
• Experience with GCP
