Protector Insurance is the fastest-growing insurance company and the challenger in the Nordic region, France and the UK. With NOK 12bn in turnover, nearly 700 employees, and an ambition to continue to grow in Europe. Our culture and values make us unique. They are at the heart of everything we do and guide us in everyday decisions. At Protector, the path to decisions is shorter, the tasks are broader, the relationships are closer, and the opportunities for development are endless. We create a motivating, forward-thinking, and rewarding work environment with knowledge sharing across age and experience.

IT at Protector

IT is a major contributor to Protector’s profitable growth. Protector’s core insurance systems are developed, maintained, and operated by the company’s own IT professionals. IT is strengthened by close cooperation with the providers of a modern technology stack, and a cloud-based infrastructure. This gives the company access to the latest technology and enables recruitment of highly skilled resources, creating a unique combination of advanced technology and deep business understanding. We believe a well-functioning cooperation in the matrix puts ownership of IT initiatives in the business units and reduces time to market for innovations.

Platform Engineering in Protector

The job of the Platform team is to provide our users with the technical capabilities you need to develop and run software in a safe and enjoyable way.

The platform product is built around the idea that an autonomous team of people, able and willing to take responsibility for the things they make, perform better than any alternative.

In order to support this idea, we aim to provide our users with functionality that just works™, removing complexities where possible and still providing you with the key insights you need to successfully operate the things you create or provision.

Your role

As a platform engineer, you will be building the internal developer platform that empowers our software and data engineers to create great software. You will play a key role in enabling self-service for our engineers, and building a platform that is fun, safe and easy to use.

Who We Are Looking For

We believe the right candidate is someone who thrives on solving problems for other software and data engineers. You are a passionate problem-solver who values a good balance between speed and quality.

You should have:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Developer or DevOps Engineer.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • A love for being part of a team working towards a common goal.
  • Strong skills in both giving and receiving feedback.

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Cloud Run
  • Data & analytics: Postgres, SQL Server, BigQuery
  • Infrastructure as code: Terraform
  • Languages: Java, Python, Go
  • Version control + CICD: GitHub + GitHub Actions

Protector’s IT department maintains close relationships with brokers, clients, authorities, financial and insurance organisations, and their IT departments. By recruiting, developing, and retaining the right people, internal employee satisfaction survey results show IT is an organisation that is very attractive to be a part of.

We operate in accordance with the UN Principles for Sustainable Insurance. An important part of our approach to sustainability is our belief in equal opportunities and our commitment to actively reflecting the diversity of our society. The most important resource we have is our employees with different backgrounds and perspectives.
