Our client is building the future of construction & property SaaS tech in Australia that simplifies operations within the industry.
Why This Role Matters
As the Engineering Manager responsible for a team of 10+ (still hiring/growing) across full stack, frontend, backend and QA, you’ll shape the architecture, reliability, and evolution of our platform as we scale. You won’t just ship code as a hands-on Engineering Manager — you’ll define, own and communicate the technical roadmap, ensuring it aligns with the product and business goals.
What you'll do
- Define, own and communicate the technical roadmap, ensuring it aligns with the product and business goals.
- Establish & maintain engineering best practices around architecture, code quality, documentation, testing, and deployment.
- Lead the integration of AI into development practices and continuously evaluate the technology stack for innovation and efficiency.
- Balance speed of delivery with long-term scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Manage technical debt proactively to safeguard future product velocity.
What success looks like
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent, including strategic third parties, fostering a high-performant and ownership-driven culture.
- Design a scalable team structure, defining clear roles, accountability, and pathways for career growth, coaching technical leads and individual contributors to grow into leadership.
- Design and build the engineering team with the next phase of our growth and team structure in mind.
- Implement and optimize agile delivery processes — sprint planning, retrospectives, and release management.
- Establish and track engineering KPIs (velocity, quality, uptime, deployment frequency, etc.).
- Ensure features are shipped on time with high coding standards, effective testing, and reliable deployment processes.
- Support teams in problem-solving and decision-making to remove blockers and maintain delivery momentum
What we’re looking for
- Experience as an Engineering Manager scaling teams within a tech or SaaS start/scale-up business
- Strong technical foundation with ability to make architectural decisions.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Strong hands-on technical skills in .NET, .NET Core and modern front-end frameworks (Angular or React) + TypeScript & Node.js
- Extensive Azure cloud experience
- Experience in AI-assisted development
- Manage on-shore and off-shore teams (Australia, India and Philippines)
- Skilled in setting up and scaling engineering processes.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Comfortable collaborating with executive peers on strategy and planning.
- A mindset of ownership, simplicity, and continuous improvement.
