Researcher (Web3)

As a Web3 Researcher at YZi Labs, you will play a critical role in identifying and evaluating top talent—researchers, developers, and entrepreneurs in the Web3 ecosystem. Leveraging your deep technical expertise and strategic insight, you will provide actionable research and analysis to guide our investment decisions. Your work will ensure that Yzi Labs backs the most promising opportunities in blockchain, decentralized technologies, and the broader Web3 space. This role blends technical knowledge with market analysis to support our long-term investment vision.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive research on Web3 technologies, trends, protocols, and innovations to maintain a leading-edge understanding of the space.
• Identify and evaluate Web3 talents, including blockchain researchers, developers, and entrepreneurs, for potential investment or collaboration.
• Perform detailed technical due diligence on Web3 startups and projects to assess their viability and growth potential.
• Analyze long-term trends and disruptive breakthroughs in decentralized technologies to align with YZi Labs’ evergreen investment strategy.
• Collaborate closely with the investment team to provide technical insights and strategic recommendations.
• Build and maintain networks with academic institutions, blockchain research labs, developer communities, and industry events to source exceptional talent and opportunities.
• Translate complex technical Web3 concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
• Advanced degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) in blockchain, cryptography, distributed systems, or related areas are a strong plus.
• Strong technical background with hands-on experience in Web3 technologies such as blockchain protocols, smart contracts, decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, or related subfields.
• Proven experience evaluating technical talent or projects within the Web3 ecosystem, with the ability to assess innovation and potential impact.
• Familiarity with adjacent sectors such as AI, biotech, or fintech is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical skills and a strategic mindset to identify high-potential investment opportunities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of distilling complex technical ideas for diverse audiences.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively alongside investment professionals.
