Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Freelance Test Automation Engineer to join a high-impact project in the Belgian energy sector.

You’ll design, execute, and automate test scenarios that ensure the reliability and performance of applications supporting Europe’s green energy transition. This is a long-term freelance opportunity in a collaborative, international environment.

• Position: Freelance Test Automation Engineer
• Duration: 12-month contract (with likelihood of extension)
• Day Rate: €(Negotiable and Competitive)
• Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid – up to 3 days/week remote)
• Start Date: October
• Languages: English AND French OR Dutch

Core Responsibilities

• Write detailed test plans and scenarios (functional, non-functional, integration, non-regression).
• Prepare and maintain test data.
• Execute manual and automated test cases, document results, and provide clear test evidence.
• Develop and maintain automated test suites (Robot Framework experience is a plus).
• Track, report, and follow up on defects, collaborating closely with developers and project leaders.
• Act as a quality gatekeeper, giving the “Go” for deployments to acceptance environments.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in test design, scenario writing, and execution.
• Solid background in test automation and/or programming/scripting (Python or equivalent logic).
• Familiarity with databases (SQL & NoSQL).
• Hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum teams.
• Strong understanding of IT concepts: APIs, web services, frontend/backend, protocols.
• Bonus points for knowledge of Robot Framework, RabbitMQ, DevOps workflows, or security testing.
