Join a high-impact freelance mission supporting energy innovation across Europe!

We’re looking for a Senior Python Fullstack Developer (with strong React experience) to join a major transformation project with one of Europe’s key energy infrastructure players. You’ll be embedded in a dynamic innovation team, helping to drive smarter, greener energy systems across Belgium and Germany.

Logistics:

• Position: Freelance Python Fullstack Developer
• Duration: Long-term mission (initial 12 months, extendable)
• Location: Brussels (Hybrid - up to 3 days/week remote)
• Languages: English (French or Dutch is a strong advantage)
• Start Date: ASAP (Summer start possible)
• Day Rate: €(Negotiable & Competitive)

Core Responsibilities:

• Enhance and maintain Python-based tools that support critical energy calculations
• Refactor and modernise existing internal Python codebase using clean coding principles
• Collaborate closely with the business to translate functional needs into scalable tech solutions
• Define and implement DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipeline improvements
• Introduce governance standards for script quality, version control, and testing
• Contribute to the React-based front-end ecosystem as needed

Essential Skills:

• 5+ years of hands-on Python development (Python 3.11+ preferred)
• Strong experience with Pandas, NumPy, and data-centric programming
• Proven ability to lead technical decisions and mentor others
• Familiarity with DevOps pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred)
• Solid grasp of frontend development with React
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Ability to challenge and improve legacy processes

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with PyPSA or pandapower (energy systems simulation)
• Background in infrastructure, energy, or engineering domains
• Knowledge of governance frameworks for in-house software
• Comfortable navigating multilingual work environments
