The Role

We are looking for a seasoned Staff Security Engineer to lead security initiatives across our Cloud, Enterprise IT infrastructure and network security architecture. This role is critical to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our corporate systems and data. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, hands-on expertise, and the ability to work across IT, security, and business teams to strengthen our overall security posture.

Based in Cork, this key role will drive key product and application security engineering initiatives for Proofpoint Product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Enterprise IT Security Design and implement security controls for endpoint management, identity and access management (IAM), mobile device management (MDM), and SaaS platforms
• Network Security Develop and manage secure network architectures including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, NAC, and segmentation strategies
• Zero Trust & Access Control Architect and enforce Zero Trust principles across networks and enterprise systems
• Monitoring & Incident Response Lead detection and response capabilities for enterprise and network threats, including SIEM tuning and security analytics
• Risk & Compliance Conduct risk assessments, policy enforcement, and ensure compliance with standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and internal security policies
• Automation & Hardening Automate infrastructure security tasks and enforce system hardening and configuration baselines
• Collaboration & Leadership Partner with IT, legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to drive security strategy and execution
• Mentorship Guide junior engineers and IT team members in secure practices and technology choice
  
  

What You Bring To The Team

• Extensive IT security and network engineering roles, with increasing responsibility
• Technical Skills Deep knowledge of enterprise IT environments, Active Directory, networking protocols, VPNs, firewalls, endpoint security, and patch management
• Security Tools Familiarity with SIEMs, EDR solutions, vulnerability scanners, MDM platforms, and network security appliances
• Certifications Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security, GIAC) are a strong plus
• Soft Skills Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
