Senior Backend Developer- AI SaaS Scale-Up

Location: Nuremberg, Germany - Hybrid (4 days in the office)

With over €6.5 million raised in funding, €200k in monthly recurring revenue, and a strong client base including major industry related providers. Therefore, the business is on course to break even before raising its Series A funding - a rare milestone for a company at this stage.

The Role

They are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to help scale their AI-powered platform. You’ll work on improving performance, scalability, and integration across systems - contributing to the next phase of innovation and growth.

You’ll be a key part of a product-focused engineering team, building high-quality solutions that make a real difference to customers and end users.

Responsibilities:

• Refactor and improve existing backend services to enhance performance and scalability
• Build robust backend systems in Python, following clean code and architecture principles
• Develop innovative new features leveraging large language models (LLMs)
• Ensure seamless integration across internal systems and third-party services
• Optimise database performance and ensure secure data processing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps and frontend engineers

Qualifications Required:

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Several years of hands-on experience in backend development
• Expert-level Python skills and a strong grasp of software architecture
• Proven experience working with databases and optimising performance
• Bonus if you have experience with Kubernetes, FastAPI, Angular, or NLP/LLMs

What Success Looks Like.....

Within 3 months: You’ve become familiar with the platform architecture and collaborating smoothly with the product and engineering teams.

Within 6 months: You’ve delivered new backend features and improvements, including those powered by LLMs. And you have made measurable performance enhancements.

Within 12 months: You’re a key technical contributor shaping backend strategy and system design.
