Senior Machine Learning Engineer

I am collaborating with a very exciting, incredibly well backed, start up, Biotech company with offices in Amsterdam and Zurich

They are building a cutting-edge data platform and developing a multimodal foundation model that leverages complex datasets to improve cancer diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes.

Oncology involves a complex interplay of data types—including medical imaging, pathology, genomics, clinical records, and patient histories. We are seeking visionary engineers to develop an agentic AI system capable of seamlessly integrating these modalities to support oncologists and enhance patient outcomes.

As part of the Agentic AI team, you will contribute to building a system that can process and reason across diverse medical data sources.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement an agentic AI system that integrates and interprets multimodal oncology data, including medical imaging, pathology slides, genomic profiles, and clinical information.

• Develop intelligent agent workflows that mirror the collaborative, multidisciplinary approach of oncology care teams and tumor boards.

• Build and optimize systems that understand relationships across different data modalities, extracting clinically relevant insights.

• Create evaluation frameworks to rigorously assess agent performance across real-world oncology scenarios.

• Research and implement state-of-the-art AI techniques, leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision-Language Models (VLMs) in agentic AI applications.

Your profile

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong programming skills in Python and PyTorch.
• Deep understanding of transformer architectures and deep learning principles.
• Experience training and fine-tuning foundation models.
• Proficiency in prompting and developing applications with LLMs.
• Solid grasp of LLM and VLM architectures and operations.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Agentic AI or familiarity with recent research in the field.
• Experience in Reinforcement Learning.
