Lead Software Engineer – Backend (Hybrid, Helsinki, Finland)

Are you an experienced backend developer with a passion for building high-quality services? Do you want to lead impactful projects that transform operational applications? My client is looking for a Lead Engineer to join their dynamic team and drive innovation!

This role is hybrid, requiring you to live in Finland and work from our Helsinki office several days a week.

As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of robust backend services, primarily using Python and AWS, with Java experience as a significant plus. You will play a key role in shaping our backend architecture and lead projects across multiple teams and services. Your work will span from system architecture design to hands-on coding and mentoring other engineers.

You will work closely with product owners and domain experts, contributing to the key processes.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in backend software development with Python and AWS.
• Experience throughout the full software development life cycle, including gathering requirements, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Leadership experience or team management skills.
• Expertise in software architecture and best practices.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Java, AWS CloudFormation, Kafka, AppSync, GraphQL, and event-driven architecture is a strong plus.
