Power BI Developer

Responsibilities

Power BI Infrastructure & Practices:

•Provide architectural guidance for setting up the Power BI development environment, including workspaces, deployment pipelines, version management, and app creation.

•Implement best practices for data governance, security, and user access.

Data Acquisition and Transformation:

•Design and develop data flows using Power Query to efficiently stage data in the Power BI service from large data sources.

•Implement incremental refresh strategies (staging vs. transformative) to optimize data updates.

Data Modeling Expertise:

•Build robust and optimized semantic models for efficient data analysis.

•Apply best practices for semantic model design, including limiting data for testing purposes.

•Analyze and troubleshoot model performance issues.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

•Utilize Power BI monitoring tools to identify and address performance bottlenecks.

•Recommend strategies to optimize the Power BI service for efficient data retrieval and visualization.

Communication & Collaboration:

•Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into actionable Power BI solutions.

•Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Collaborate with IT teams to ensure a seamless integration between Power BI and existing data infrastructure.

Profile:

•Minimum Bachelors Degree in IT/Computer Science other relevant courses

•Minimum 5 - 6 years experience in Power BI development with strong understanding of data analysis and visualization principles and proficiency in Power BI and other data tools.

•Experience in data modelling, ETL processes, and creating dashboards and reports using Power BI

•Experience with SQL for data manipulation and extraction

•Knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) for creating calculations

•Good Communication skill and fluency with English for uninterrupted communication with client counterparts in different countries.

•Strong communications skills to manage end-to-end Power BI projects:

oFacilitate meetings with stakeholders

oGather requirements

oIntegrate data sources

oBuild models

oBuild reports and dashboards

oMaintain dashboards as needed

•Power BI Certification is a plus
