Chief Operating Officer - Board Member

ERGO Insurance SE (ERGO Eesti)
Estonia · Full-time · Not Applicable

Are you a senior transformation and operations leader who can turn AI, data and operational excellence into measurable business impact? ERGO is looking for a Chief Operating Officer - Board Member, Baltic Region to shape a modern, scalable and AI-supported operating model across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The role:

As Chief Operating Officer, you will report directly to the Baltics CEO and operate as a member of the Management Board. This is an executive position with both functional COO responsibility and shared Management Board accountability.

You will lead a strategically important transformation and operational agenda with focus on AI-enabled solutions, data analytics and governance, claims modernization, operational excellence and central operations. The central challenge is to translate ERGO’s regional strategy and Group-level AI agenda into practical, scalable and measurable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the practical integration of AI capabilities into operations and translate AI, automation and advanced analytics into scalable business solutions.
  • Ensure that data analytics and data governance support operational decision-making, performance transparency and process development.
  • Strengthen claims operations, process reliability, service quality, productivity, efficiency and fraud prevention.
  • Build a modern, efficient and measurable Baltic operating model, including process excellence, governance and performance management.
  • Develop the regional Central Operations model across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as the organization evolves.
  • Lead change across countries and functions in a way that builds trust, engagement and clear execution discipline.
  • Contribute as a constructive Management Board colleague beyond your own functional area.

Requirements:

The ideal COO is a future-oriented and people-focused transformation and operations leader with the ability to operate at Management Board level. Direct insurance experience is an advantage, but not a requirement. More important is the ability to lead complex, technology-enabled and regulated operating environments.

  • Proven senior leadership experience, ideally at executive, Management Board or regional leadership level.
  • Strong track record in transformation, digitalization, automation, AI-enabled solutions or data-driven process development.
  • Experience in claims, central operations, shared services, customer operations, service delivery, operational excellence or a comparable operational environment.
  • Understanding of regulated environments, governance frameworks, risk awareness and senior stakeholder interaction.
  • Ability to lead complex, multi-country or matrixed organizations.
  • Strong business orientation, structured execution capability and ability to translate strategy into practical operating models.
  • Fluent Estonian and English. Other Baltic languages or German are considered an advantage. Location in Estonia or a clear willingness to relocate to Estonia.
  • Relevant university degree, preferably at Master’s level.

What we offer:

The role offers a rare opportunity to shape the future of a major Baltic insurance group backed by ERGO Group and Munich Re. It combines Management Board responsibility, Baltic-level leadership, AI-enabled transformation, claims and operations modernization, and the development of a scalable regional platform.

For the right candidate, the position offers the possibility to leave a visible mark on how insurance operations, claims processes, data-driven decision-making and AI-supported operating models evolve across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In addition, the role may offer a strong platform for further international career development within ERGO Group and the wider Munich Re Group for a leader who demonstrates impact in this strategically important Baltic transformation agenda.
