Position Overview:
The Medical Sales Representative, Pharmaceutical Business, is responsible for promoting NCH’s pharmaceutical portfolio to healthcare professionals across assigned territories. The role focuses on building trusted scientific relationships with doctors, pharmacists, hospitals, clinics, and key opinion leaders to drive ethical product awareness, prescription generation, and sustainable sales growth.
This position requires strong therapeutic knowledge, disciplined territory management, commercial focus, and strict adherence to UAE healthcare regulations, internal compliance standards, and approved promotional practices. The Medical Sales Representative acts as a professional ambassador for NCH, ensuring that every customer interaction is credible, compliant, insight-led, and aligned with NCH’s values of client-centricity, integrity, collaboration, trust, and practicality.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Territory Management and Sales Planning
- Develop and execute a territory business plan aligned with pharmaceutical brand priorities, sales targets, and market access opportunities.
- Segment and prioritise healthcare professionals based on prescribing potential, specialty, patient flow, account importance, and business opportunity.
- Prepare structured call plans to ensure effective coverage, frequency, reach, and quality of engagement across assigned doctors, pharmacists, hospitals, and clinics.
- Monitor territory sales performance, prescription trends, customer coverage, and activity KPIs, recommending corrective actions where required.
Scientific Promotion and Product Detailing
- Promote NCH’s pharmaceutical products ethically and accurately using approved scientific messages, materials, and product claims.
- Deliver clear and persuasive product detailing to healthcare professionals, linking clinical benefits, patient needs, and appropriate product positioning.
- Maintain strong knowledge of therapeutic areas, treatment guidelines, disease pathways, competitor products, and patient profiles relevant to the assigned portfolio.
- Ensure all discussions remain within approved indications, approved promotional materials, and company compliance standards.
Healthcare Professional Engagement and Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, key opinion leaders, and relevant healthcare stakeholders.
- Understand customer needs, prescribing barriers, patient concerns, and account dynamics to tailor engagement and improve brand relevance.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen product awareness through scientific discussions, educational initiatives, and structured follow-up.
- Represent NCH professionally in all field interactions, ensuring consistency, credibility, and high standards of conduct.
Market Intelligence and Business Insights
- Track competitor activity, market trends, prescribing behaviour, pricing dynamics, product availability, and changes in customer preferences.
- Gather field insights on patient pathways, access challenges, therapeutic gaps, and customer feedback to support commercial and brand decision-making.
- Share timely, practical, and evidence-based insights with the Area Manager, Brand Manager, Medical, Regulatory, and Supply Chain teams.
- Contribute to forecasting discussions by providing relevant territory feedback on demand, account potential, and market risks.
Events, Medical Education and Brand Support
- Support the planning and execution of scientific meetings, round tables, pharmacy trainings, congress participation, and healthcare professional education activities.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory teams to ensure all events and materials are approved, compliant, and aligned with brand strategy.
- Engage healthcare professionals before and after events to maximise attendance, learning impact, and appropriate follow-up.
- Participate in product training, therapeutic updates, and internal capability-building sessions to continuously improve field effectiveness.
Compliance, Reporting and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Record all field activities, customer interactions, feedback, and follow-up actions accurately and on time through the CRM system.
- Comply with UAE healthcare regulations, including relevant MOHAP, DHA, DOH, and internal company requirements.
- Report adverse events, product quality complaints, off-label requests, or compliance concerns through the appropriate internal channels without delay.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to support availability, launch readiness, customer service, and business performance.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline; Pharmacy qualification is preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of experience as a Medical Sales Representative within the pharmaceutical sector, preferably in the assigned territory or GCC.
- Proven record of achieving sales, coverage, and activity targets in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
- Experience engaging physicians, pharmacists, hospitals, clinics, and key opinion leaders across assigned territories.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical promotion, prescription generation, customer segmentation, and territory business planning.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel regularly within assigned territories.
Technical & Functional Skills
- Strong scientific and therapeutic knowledge relevant to the assigned pharmaceutical portfolio.
- Ability to communicate clinical and product information clearly, accurately, and within approved promotional boundaries.
- Knowledge of UAE healthcare regulations, pharmaceutical compliance standards, and ethical promotion requirements.
- Proficiency in CRM systems for call planning, activity tracking, customer segmentation, and performance reporting.
- Ability to analyse sales data, prescription trends, market dynamics, and competitor activity to generate actionable insights.
- Strong presentation skills, with the ability to conduct face-to-face detailing, pharmacy trainings, and scientific discussions.
- Understanding of pharmacovigilance basics, including adverse event reporting and product quality complaint escalation.
