Backend Developer – Python (f/m/d) Tensar GmbH | Vienna | Full-time

Who we are 

Tensar builds AI-powered autonomous systems for the security industry. Edge computing, computer vision, flight control, fully autonomous systems. We're currently building our engineering team to dominate in a rapidly growing industry.

What you'll do 

You'll work on our codebase. Specifically:

• Develop and maintain backend logic
• Debug across the full stack
• Write automated tests and improve test coverage
• Review pull requests and write documentation
• Support multi-platform builds (Linux, Windows) and resolve platform-specific issues
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and improve developer tooling
• Contribute to other projects as needed

What you bring

Technical:

• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• Daily use of Git & GitHub, comfortable with GitHub Actions CI/CD
• Communication protocols: Serial (USB/UART), UDP/TCP, Bluetooth
• Linux proficiency, Docker basics

Strongly preferred:

• MAVLink 2.0 – message structure, dialects, communication patterns
• UAV/drone systems – PX4 or ArduPilot, mission planning, telemetry, parameter management
• GIS/Mapping – coordinate systems, geospatial data, terrain queries, map rendering

Nice to have:

• GStreamer – video streaming pipelines
• SDL3 – joystick/gamepad input handling
• Embedded systems – resource-constrained environments, real-time communication
• UI/UX understanding

• Salary: From €45,000+ gross/year depending on experience
