Senior Principal Software Engineer

We’re working with a leading Australian technology team behind one of the country’s largest and most complex supply chain platforms, operating at massive scale and supporting millions of users.

This is a genuinely career defining Principal Engineer role. You will sit at the centre of how major platforms evolve. You will help define and guide technical direction across critical systems. You will drive engineering quality. You will also introduce new ideas that improve how large scale distributed systems are built and operated.

You will have real influence across flagship systems that matter, working closely with senior engineering leaders and multiple squads to solve complex, high impact technical challenges. You will be supported by strong engineering leadership and experienced teams across architecture, platform, and security, giving you the backing to make a impact from the beginning.

This is a role where your decisions will directly shape performance, reliability, scalability, and the future direction of core platforms.

What you will be doing

• Driving technical direction across high scale distributed systems
• Leading cloud native architecture and modern engineering approaches
• Working across squads to unblock delivery and solve complex technical problems
• Designing and reviewing scalable solutions across core platforms
• Building and validating proof of concepts before wider adoption
• Partnering with Engineering, Platform, and Security teams to align delivery
• Helping shape engineering standards and ways of working
• Influencing without formal authority across multiple teams

• Strong backend engineering background with deep .NET experience
• Experience in high traffic or enterprise-scale environments
• Strong cloud experience
• Microservices and Event-Driven Architecture experience
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and modern engineering principles
• Strong communicator able to influence senior stakeholders
