About The Role

GrabJobs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced PHP Backend Developer to join our dynamic team. In this fully remote position, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the core backend systems that support our platform’s functionalities. Your primary focus will be on creating scalable, secure, and efficient APIs and backend services that enable our platform to deliver a seamless experience to users worldwide. Collaborating closely with frontend developers, product managers, and cross-functional teams, you will contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategies that enhance system performance and reliability. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of professional backend development experience, with at least 3 years specifically working with PHP in a production environment. A strong foundation in MySQL database management, relational design, and query optimization is essential. Experience deploying applications on AWS cloud infrastructure, including services such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, and S3, is required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to troubleshooting, and a solid understanding of security best practices. Strong communication and collaboration skills are vital for working effectively within a remote team. Preferred qualifications include experience with Python scripting, automation, or backend services, as well as familiarity with Ruby on Rails. Mentoring junior developers and taking ownership of projects are highly valued traits.

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and manage databases using PHP and MySQL to support platform functionalities. Deploy and maintain applications on AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security. Contribute to architectural decisions, technical strategy, and the continuous improvement of system performance. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code aligned with industry best practices. Optimize database schemas and queries to enhance system responsiveness and handle high traffic loads effectively. Develop comprehensive unit tests, debug issues, and troubleshoot both in development and production environments to ensure system stability. Implement security measures and adhere to secure coding standards to protect sensitive data and maintain compliance. Participate in code reviews, maintain version control using Git, and produce detailed technical documentation. Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to deliver integrated solutions. Stay updated on industry trends and recommend architectural enhancements to improve platform scalability and robustness.
