Software Engineer (Lua) at BairesDev

In this role, you'll work at the performance-critical edge of gateway infrastructure, where reliability and every millisecond of latency matter. You'll contribute to systems that handle authentication, routing, and session management at scale, applying a safety-first mindset to deployments and a sharp eye for observability. What You'll Do

• Write and maintain performance-critical Lua code that runs in the hot path of gateway infrastructure.
• Ensure reliability and performance of authentication and routing systems under high load.
• Debug and resolve latency and failover issues in distributed environments.
• Contribute to observability and safe, staged rollout practices across infrastructure systems.
  
  

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Lua.
• Hands-on experience with Redis, including connection pooling, timeouts, failover, and latency debugging.
• Experience with JWT/OIDC, gateway routing, and tenant-aware request handling.
• Knowledge of p99 performance optimization.
• Hot-path safety mindset with experience in observability and staged rollout practices.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
