Summary

The engineer takes technical ownership of the backend infrastructure powering Splunk's Connected Experiences (mobile monitoring ecosystems). They ensure that critical operational data is securely, quickly, and cleanly serialized, cached, and tunneled from corporate network environments out to mobile endpoints without creating data-leak vulnerabilities.

Day-to-Day (The Reality)

• Secure API Engineering: Writing asynchronous Python 3 backend services and REST endpoints, while utilizing Protobuf and WebSockets to handle real-time, low-overhead data data streaming.
• Infrastructure Containerization: Packaging services into Docker containers and orchestrating deployments using Kubernetes and Helm charts across AWS environments.
• Serverless Data Flow: Configuring serverless pipelines utilizing AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB for event-driven storage and scaling.
• Session Caching: Configuring Redis clusters to hold session data and high-speed data caches to ensure fast mobile page loads.
• Network Security Integration: Setting up secure, VPN-less tunnels via Splunk Spacebridge, managing SSL certificates, configuring Webhooks into Splunk HTTP Event Collectors (HEC), and integrating Cisco Secure Firewalls.
• Identity Management Governance: Hardening system access points via SAML 2.0 Single Sign-On (SSO), setting up attribute mappings in Active Directory, and writing authentication checks with Duo 2FA.
