Java Software Engineer to Build AI-Enabled API Marketplace

Job Description

Would you like to help shape how developers and customers interact with banking APIs in an AI-assisted future?

We are looking for a Java Software Engineer to join our Integration & Adoption area and contribute to the evolution of our API Marketplace, Premium API offerings and integration platforms. One of your key focus areas will be helping us build MCP services for AI agents, enabling new ways to discover, understand and work with APIs through modern AI-assisted developer experiences.

You will work on real products used by developers and customers: improving the API Marketplace, developing backend services, supporting live solutions, and helping us create a smoother, more modern API consumer journey.

You will join an international engineering team where quality, collaboration and ownership matter. We work with Java, OpenShift, AWS, GitHub Actions and modern integration patterns. We also actively use AI in our daily work — including GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot and DanskeGPT — to improve productivity, documentation, analysis and engineering workflows.

Danske Bank supports a high degree of workplace flexibility (our team is currently using a hybrid working model, where we work at least 3 days a week in the office.).

You will:

• Build and enhance backend services for our API Marketplace, MCP services and owned integration solutions
• Help shape AI-enabled API experiences that make API discovery and integration easier for developers and customers
• Develop Java/Spring-based services with a focus on clean code, maintainability, security and reliability
• Support and maintain live solutions, including troubleshooting, improvements and production readiness
• Contribute to the evolution of our API consumer journey — from API discovery to onboarding, testing and integration
• Work with CI/CD, Git, GitHub Actions, OpenShift/AWS and modern engineering practices
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product owners, architects and business stakeholders across countries
• Take part in technical discussions, challenge ideas constructively and help the squad make good engineering decisions
• Work in an agile setup where the team owns both delivery and continuous improvement
  
  

About you:

• 3+ years of experience with Java and Spring Framework
• Good working knowledge of Git
• Experience building and maintaining backend services and APIs
• Interest in or experience with MCP, agentic AI or AI-assisted developer tools
• Familiarity with Node.js / JavaScript, GitHub Actions, OpenShift/AWS and OAuth/security concepts is an advantage
• Knowledge of Terraform, MSSQL or similar databases, or Kafka is nice to have
• Collaborative team player, active in discussions, experienced in agile setups
  
  

We offer:

Monthly salary range from 3680 EUR to 5520 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
