Deputy Chief of Compliance
Location: Remote / Hybrid (LV / EU Timezone)
Compensation Package: €5,000–6,500 gross per month + bonuses
About the Company
Our client is a regulated global crypto fintech operating across multiple jurisdictions, providing digital asset and payments infrastructure to a fast-growing international customer base.
The business is scaling rapidly across Europe and beyond, with active expansion into new regulatory environments including Australia, the UK (dual licensing), Latvia (EMI), and Jersey (VASP). As the organisation grows, strengthening its compliance leadership function has become critical to supporting continued expansion and maintaining strong regulatory standing.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Deputy Chief of Compliance to join the Compliance leadership team and act as the right hand to the Chief Compliance Officer.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for supporting and, when required, stepping in for the CCO across all geographies and product lines. You will help drive the compliance agenda, manage regulatory relationships, and ensure the business remains aligned with evolving global requirements.
You will play a key role in strengthening the compliance framework, supporting licensing activity, and helping the organisation scale safely in a highly regulated environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deputising for the Chief Compliance Officer across all regions and product lines
- Owning and strengthening the firm’s compliance framework, policies, and controls
- Supporting regulatory engagements including audits, inspections, and licensing applications
- Acting as a key point of contact for regulators and external stakeholders
- Advising senior leadership on AML, CFT, and broader regulatory risk
- Overseeing day-to-day compliance operations and ensuring effective coverage across the business
- Managing, mentoring, and supporting compliance team members
- Partnering closely with Sales, Legal, Operations, Fraud, Customer Support, and Product
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, automation, and audit readiness
- Supporting expansion into new jurisdictions and regulatory regimes
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of senior AML and compliance experience within regulated crypto, fintech, CASP, VASP, EMI, or payments environments
- Strong understanding of EU regulatory frameworks including AMLD5/AMLR, MiCA, Travel Rule, and TFR
- Proven experience in regulatory authorisations, licence applications, audits, or remediation programmes
- Experience building or significantly improving compliance frameworks, policies, and controls
- Previous experience managing or mentoring compliance professionals, ideally in a deputy or senior leadership capacity
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage confidently with regulators and senior executives
- Multi-jurisdictional exposure (UK, EU, US, Canada, or Australia preferred)
- Hands-on experience with blockchain analytics and KYT tools such as Chainalysis, Elliptic, or TRM Labs
Preferred experience:
- Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, CGSS, or equivalent
- Experience with DORA, PSD2, or broader financial crime advisory frameworks
- Experience working within high-growth, international organisations
You'll thrive in this role if you:
- Take ownership and operate with minimal oversight
- Balance commercial objectives with regulatory obligations
- Influence senior stakeholders through credibility and sound judgment
- Build solutions rather than create roadblocks
- Enjoy working in fast-moving environments where no two days are the same
Why Apply?
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior compliance leadership role at the centre of a rapidly scaling global crypto fintech.
You will work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer and executive leadership team, shaping and strengthening the compliance function across multiple jurisdictions while directly supporting international expansion.
If you're an experienced compliance leader looking for an opportunity to shape the future of a growing global crypto business, we'd love to hear from you.
