L2/L3 Network Engineer

L2/L3 Network Engineer | Ghent Region | Freelance or Permanent

We are currently looking for an experienced L2/L3 Network Engineer to join a large international enterprise environment based in the Ghent region.

This is a long-term assignment for a hands-on network professional who enjoys working in complex, multi-site environments and has strong experience with modern networking and security technologies.

Hybrid – 2 days/week remote

Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 support for enterprise LAN/WAN environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to routing, switching, wireless networking, VPNs and internet connectivity
• Manage and optimize SD-WAN and network security solutions
• Configure and maintain network infrastructure and firewall environments
• Support infrastructure deployments, migrations and upgrade projects
• Monitor network performance and proactively identify improvement opportunities
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud and security teams
• Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
• Coordinate with external vendors and service providers when required

Required Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Network Engineering or Network Support roles
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Palo Alto Firewalls
• Cisco Meraki (MX, MS, MR)
• Solid knowledge of:
• TCP/IP
• DNS
• DHCP
• BGP
• OSPF
• Network segmentation and security principles
• Experience supporting enterprise WAN environments and cloud connectivity
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Experience working within international enterprise environments
• Professional English communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with SASE solutions
• Exposure to Azure and/or AWS networking
• Knowledge of QoS and traffic optimization
• Relevant certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE or Meraki certifications
