Scrum Master

We are currently looking for an experienced Freelance Scrum Master to support agile squads within a complex IT and payments environment.

As Scrum Master, you will act as the key facilitator and agile reference for the squad, ensuring the proper implementation of Scrum and Agile methodologies while helping teams maximize delivery value and continuously improve their performance.

You will coach, challenge, and protect the squad, while fostering strong collaboration between developers, Product Owners, stakeholders, and external partners.

Your mission

• Facilitate and coordinate Scrum ceremonies (Daily Stand-up, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Retrospectives)
• Ensure proper adoption and execution of Agile methodologies (Scrum / Kanban)
• Support the Product Owner with backlog management and prioritization
• Help the squad remove impediments and improve delivery efficiency
• Track squad capacity, velocity, and delivery progress
• Foster continuous improvement and agile maturity within the team
• Manage stakeholder interactions and protect the squad from disruptions

Practical information

• Contract: Freelance
• Location: Brussels
• Hybrid setup: 50% onsite / 50% remote
• Experience required: minimum 3 years as Scrum Master
• Daily Rate: 600€/day excl. VAT

Key responsibilitiesAgile squad facilitation

• Organize and facilitate Scrum ceremonies and key agile meetings
• Schedule and monitor key Scrum methodology milestones
• Ensure smooth collaboration within the squad and with stakeholders
• Support the squad in achieving Sprint goals and delivery objectives

Agile coaching & methodology

• Ensure Agile principles and Scrum/Kanban practices are understood and applied
• Act as servant leader and coach for the squad
• Help define and maintain squad strategy and continuous improvement initiatives
• Track velocity and capacity metrics to improve planning and delivery

Stakeholder & delivery management

• Facilitate interactions between internal and external stakeholders
• Maintain relationships with third-party providers when applicable
• Escalate squad-level risks, blockers, and delivery issues
• Contribute to delivery transparency and reporting activities

Your profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as Scrum Master in Agile environments
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum, and Kanban
• Experience working in complex IT delivery organizations
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle and project management methodologies
• Experience with Agile reporting and follow-up tools (e.g. Rally)
• Payments domain experience is considered a strong asset

Technical & business skills

Mandatory

• Agile reporting and tracking tools knowledge
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies

• Proven delivery experience in Agile environments
• Knowledge of Agile techniques and practices

Nice to have

• Understanding of automated testing and CI tooling
• Experience with unit testing and functional testing environments
• Exposure to continuous integration practices

Languages

• English: strong professional proficiency
• Dutch: required
• French: considered a strong plus
