Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between States whose aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival (www.cites.org). This post is located in the CITES Secretariat at the Geneva duty station. Under the direct supervision of the Secretary General, CITES, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
