Security Guard Group is seeking a detail-oriented and professional HR Generalist to support our growing team. The successful candidate will assist with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, documentation, training coordination, and general HR administration. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, confidential, people-focused, and capable of supporting a large operational workforce in a fast-paced security environment.

The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting the full employee lifecycle at Security Guard Group, including recruitment support, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, documentation, scheduling coordination, performance support, and HR administration. This role works closely with operations, management, and field employees to ensure HR processes are handled professionally, consistently, and in compliance with company policies and applicable employment legislation.

The HR Generalist will assist with maintaining employee records, supporting hiring and onboarding processes, preparing HR documents, coordinating training requirements, addressing employee inquiries, assisting with workplace investigations, supporting attendance and performance management, and helping ensure that security personnel remain compliant with licensing, training, and company standards.

This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, confidentiality, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced security services environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and onboarding support, including screening candidates, coordinating interviews, preparing employment documents, and ensuring new employees complete required onboarding steps.
  • Maintain accurate employee files, HR records, licensing information, training documents, and compliance-related records.
  • Assist with employee relations matters, including responding to employee inquiries, documenting concerns, and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Support managers and supervisors with attendance management, performance documentation, corrective action, and policy enforcement.
  • Assist with workplace investigations, incident documentation, and follow-up actions as directed by management.
  • Ensure HR practices align with company policies, employment standards legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, and security licensing requirements.
  • Coordinate employee training, certifications, uniform documentation, and other role-specific requirements.
  • Prepare HR letters, memos, reports, and internal communications as required.
  • Support payroll and scheduling teams by providing accurate employee status updates, documentation, and employment-related information.
  • Assist with employee engagement, retention initiatives, recognition programs, and general HR process improvements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee, client, and company information at all times.



Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous HR experience is not required, however, we are seeking individuals who are in the process of (or seeking) obtaining their CHRP Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of employment standards, workplace policies, employee relations, and HR best practices.
  • Experience with recruitment, onboarding, documentation, and employee file management is not required, but will considered as an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, HRIS systems, scheduling platforms, or similar administrative software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, and external parties.
  • Knowledge of security guard licensing requirements is considered an asset.
