Job Description: This is not a job posting. This is a co-founder search. A well-established Canadian venture studio that has launched over 40 companies and raised more than $400M since 2016 has already validated a Battery-as-a-Service opportunity for commercial businesses in Canada, built an active commercial pipeline, secured hardware partners, and reserved capital for a seed round they intend to lead. They are now looking for the right founder to step in as CEO and own it. You get 75% of the company. They take 25%. The heavy lifting of market validation is done. What is missing is the right operator to build it.

- Own a significant co-founder equity stake in a category-defining Canadian battery energy storage company, with pre-seed funding already in place, a seed round reserved and ready to be led by the studio, and an active commercial pipeline waiting for a CEO to close it
- Step into a de-risked venture at perfect market timing, with peak electricity demand in Ontario projected to grow 69% over the next decade, grid capacity lagging behind, and electricity rates already rising 30% year over year creating urgent and immediate demand for the solution
- Get direct access to a venture studio that has launched over 40 companies including two unicorns, with an extensive network of corporate partners, angel investors, and institutional relationships that most founders spend years trying to build on their own
What you will do:
- Own the full go-to-market strategy and commercial sales cycle from day one, closing deals founder-led with commercial and industrial customers without a CRO or sales team in the first 12 months
- Structure and manage project or asset-backed financing vehicles including debt facilities and SPVs to finance hardware rollout, working fluently within Canadian energy markets and demand response programs
- Build the team, set the culture, own the P&L, and lead the company from its current pre-seed stage through seed and beyond, with the venture studio's network and capital behind you the entire way
The ideal candidate:
- 10 or more years of experience founding or leading a startup from 0 to 1, ideally in energy, infrastructure, hardware, EV charging, HVAC, or BESS in Canada or the US, with full P&L ownership in a resource-constrained environment, not a well-resourced corporate team
- Proven track record of structured project or asset-backed financing done hands-on, not just advised on, plus experience raising venture capital as a founder or C-level and working knowledge of Canadian energy markets including IESO and demand response programs
- Equity-first mindset, someone who is motivated primarily by ownership and long-term upside, comfortable with a CA$150K base, and capable of closing high-ticket B2B infrastructure deals with commercial and industrial customers without institutional support behind them
