Platform Engineer

Barden is delighted to partner with a growing tech company in Cork in their search for a Senior Platform / Backend Engineer.

We are looking for someone who has experience building and scaling the core backend services that power their engineering teams. With continued expansion, the company is now investing heavily in AI-powered platform capabilities.

You will work directly with the Head of Platform Engineering, focused on building the internal services, tools, and frameworks that power the entire engineering organisation; not end-user product features or infrastructure maintenance.

You’ll help shape core platform areas such as:

• Auth & Identity
• Messaging Infrastructure
• Shared Libraries & SDKs
• Agentic / AI tooling & workflows
• Developer Experience tooling
• Design system components
• Select product-enabling platform features

What they’re looking for:

• Strong experience in one or two of the following or similar languages: Python, Node.js, TypeScript, C# --> you have written production code in the last 6 months
• Prior experience building platforms, services, or internal tools used across multiple engineering teams
• Experience in cloud-native distributed systems with decoupled eventing/messaging communication patterns
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or Azure Container Apps) in production environments

• Hybrid role: 3 days/week in Cork city office
