We’re building systems that don’t exist yet — at the intersection of AI, financial markets, and real-world asset trading.
This is not a typical backend role.
You’ll be designing and debugging high-stakes systems where correctness matters — not just shipping features.
If you like hard problems, fast execution, and real ownership, you’ll feel at home here.
Who We Are
We’re a highly funded stealth startup building an institutional-grade, licensed exchange for trading illiquid real-world assets — including commercial real estate, infrastructure, natural resources, and private credit.
We’re combining AI, deep regulatory infrastructure, and modern backend systems to unlock trillions in global markets.
Our team operates with urgency, ownership, and a bias toward building real systems — not presentations.
What This Role Is (and Is Not)
This role IS:
- Deep, hands-on backend engineering
- Building and debugging real systems in production
- Owning correctness, reliability, and performance
- Working in a small, high-output team
This role is NOT:
- A frontend role (we’ve largely automated that)
- A management or architecture-only position
- A place to rely on AI to produce code you don’t fully understand
We use tools like Claude and Cursor — but you’re expected to fully design, implement, and debug systems independently of them.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
- Own APIs, data models, and system behavior end-to-end
- Work with **MongoDB, Redis, and AWS** to build scalable systems
- Debug real production issues and improve system reliability
- Implement systems where data correctness and state consistency matter
- Contribute to architectural decisions through hands-on work, not theory
What We’re Looking For
- 7–10+ years of backend experience with strong Node.js/TypeScript depth
- Proven experience building and debugging production systems
- Experience with event-driven systems, queues, or distributed workflows is a plus
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment
- Able to clearly explain systems you’ve built and debugged
Strong understanding of:
- API design and backend architecture
- Data consistency, edge cases, and failure handling
- Real-world system behavior under load
What Matters Most
We’re not looking for the most tools or the longest resume.
We’re looking for engineers who:
- Can write and reason through code deeply
- Have real experience debugging production systems
- Take ownership of correctness and reliability
- Use AI as a tool — not a crutch
