Job Overview:

The Vice President Strategy (VP Strategy), Aerospace Propulsion (AP) is responsible for shaping and executing the long-term strategic direction of the business unit. Working closely with, and reporting to the EVP AP and operating with a 3–10 years horizon, the role leads the BU-wide strategic planning, competitive intelligence, technology foresight and strategic partnerships process, translating ambition into actionable priorities that create sustainable competitive advantage for Nammo AP.


The VP Strategy works as a key integrator between the Strategy organization and Business Development at both Business Unit and Site level, ensuring that insights, roadmaps, and portfolio decisions directly inform growth initiatives within the rocket motor business globally in Nammo.


The role further ensures alignment between strategic priorities, organizational capability, operating model, and execution across the business unit, enabling long-term performance and scalable growth.


VP Strategy also collaborates closely with VP Advanced Propulsion Technology and other key roles at AP.


The ideal candidate combines strong strategic leadership with demonstrated experience in driving transformation, organizational capability building, and strategy deployment in complex industrial environments.


Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities for the strategy process in the AP Business Unit:


  • Strategic planning & performance including strategy deployment, execution follow-up, and ensuring alignment between strategic priorities and organizational capability
  • Portfolio strategy and prioritization supporting governance, prioritization frameworks, and decision-making across a complex multi-site environment
  • Market & competitive intelligence
  • Technology foresight and road mapping
  • M&A, partnerships and alliances (globally/multi-sites)
  • Innovation and business model design
  • Identifying new global/multi-site opportunities
  • Scenario planning & war-gaming
  • Leading and developing the strategy team fostering cross-functional collaboration and enabling high-performance through capability development and structured ways of working


Other responsibilities and focus areas include:

  • Stay updated on the global political landscape and market, and customer´s need
  • Stay updated on capacity and possible technology development in the BU
  • Be a strategic advisor to the BU Management Team on key account relationships, stakeholder engagement and market communication, and support the management and program offices in customer relationships/communication.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and execution partner to the BU Management Team, translating strategic objectives into organizational priorities, transformation initiatives, and measurable outcomes
  • Support strategy implementation across sites and functions, ensuring effective governance, stakeholder alignment, and organizational readiness
  • Facilitate cross-functional strategic initiatives and coach leaders in driving change, performance improvement, and execution excellence


Skills & Qualifications:


Required:

  • Master's degree preferred, minimum bachelor’s degree in business, strategy, or related discipline
  • Proven track record in senior strategic leadership roles, combining strategy development with successful execution and organizational transformation
  • Demonstrated experience in business strategy, organizational capability building, performance improvement, and change leadership in complex industrial or technology-driven environments
  • Experience of leading highly competent teams and managing complex stakeholder landscapes
  • Experience translating long-term strategic ambitions into operational priorities and organizational capability
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage


Optional skills, experiences, or qualifications that would be beneficial but aren’t required:

  • Experience from defence industry will be an advantage
  • Previous experience from manufacturing, aerospace, industrial production, or operational excellence environments is advantageous
  • Experience from international businesses and growth management will be an advantage
  • Experience with structured improvement methodologies (e.g. transformation frameworks, or project governance methodologies) is considered beneficial
