About the role

This is a full-time on-site Data Generalist role located in Singapore.

We are seeking a versatile and proactive Data Generalist to own the end-to-end data lifecycle at Millipede. You will be the bridge between raw data and actionable insights, responsible for everything from building data pipelines and ensuring data integrity to conducting deep-dive analyses, developing predictive models, and creating compelling visualisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering: Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to gather large datasets from various sources, including our mobile app and web portal.
  • Data Integrity: Develop processes for data preprocessing, cleansing, and validation to ensure the highest levels of data quality and integrity.
  • Analysis & Insights: Conduct deep-dive exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand user behaviour, project metrics, and operational efficiency, identifying key trends and patterns.
  • Predictive Modeling: Build, test, and validate practical machine learning models to forecast project timelines, identify potential safety risks, or optimise resource allocation.
  • Visualisation & Reporting: Create and maintain insightful dashboards and visualisations (e.g., in Looker, PowerBI) to empower stakeholders with self-service analytics and effectively communicate findings.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, and business teams to understand their data needs, implement data-driven solutions, and drive strategic decisions.
  • Data Evangelism: Translate complex data concepts and findings into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences through reports and presentations.
  • Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in data engineering, analytics, and machine learning, and champion new methodologies to continuously improve our data capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Experience: Up to 3+ years of relevant work experience in a data-centric role (e.g., Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer) within the SaaS space.
  • Mindset: Highly detail-oriented, organised, and meticulous. You possess a strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to tackle open-ended challenges and a self-starter attitude suited for a dynamic startup environment.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to explain complex data concepts to a diverse range of audiences and collaborate effectively as a team player.

Technical Proficiencies

Data Management & Engineering:

  • Strong proficiency in query languages, especially SQL (experience with BigQuery is a major plus).
  • Experience with both Relational Databases and NoSQL databases (e.g., Google Firestore).
  • Hands-on experience with modern ETL/ELT tools (e.g., dbt, Databricks).

Analysis & Modeling:

  • Proficiency with common data science toolkits in Python (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) or R.
  • Practical understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms (e.g., k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests) is a strong plus.

Data Visualization:

  • Experience creating dashboards and reports with a range of data visualisation tools (e.g., Looker, PowerBI, D3.js).
