Position Overview
You will provide strategic leadership, executive management, and vision for the company’s regional growth, with a primary focus on driving the successful application and acquisition of the MAS MPI license. Working in lockstep with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), you will champion a culture of robust governance, lead institutional-grade business operations, and spearhead corporate strategy. As the primary face of the company in Singapore and the region, you will build critical relationships with regulators, institutional partners, and key stakeholders to ensure sustainable business expansion within a strictly compliant framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & License Acquisition: Lead the company’s overarching business strategy in alignment with regulatory expectations. Partner closely with the CCO to drive the MAS financial license application process, presenting a credible, viable, and sustainable business model to regulatory bodies. Act as the ultimate accountability partner for regulatory adherence at the board and executive level.
- Business Operations & Growth: Oversee daily commercial and operational activities, including scaling the trading, settlement, and customer service infrastructure. Drive business development, identify market opportunities in the digital/financial asset space, and translate strategic vision into measurable revenue and market share growth.
- Risk Governance & Corporate Culture: Establish and uphold a high-standard corporate governance framework in collaboration with the CCO. Ensure that risk management, financial controls, and operational policies are deeply embedded in the company’s DNA. Foster an organizational culture that balances aggressive commercial growth with absolute regulatory integrity.
- Stakeholder & Regulator Relations: Serve as the principal liaison alongside the CCO in high-level engagements with the MAS, financial institutions, and industry associations. Build and leverage strong relationships with local and international partners, institutional clients, and investors to enhance the company's reputation and market positioning.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or related fields. An MBA or advanced executive degree from a reputable institution is highly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive leadership experience in traditional financial institutions, fintech, or digital asset platforms, with at least 5 years in a C-suite or senior executive role (CEO, MD, or Head of Business).
- Regulatory & Market Savvy: Proven track record of successfully leading financial institutions through MAS licensing processes (specifically MPI or CMS licenses) or operating within MAS-regulated environments. Deep understanding of Singapore’s SFA, Payment Services Act (PSA), and global virtual asset market dynamics.
- Fit and Proper Criteria: Must cleanly meet the MAS "Fit and Proper" guidelines, demonstrating impeccable professional integrity, financial soundness, and honesty.
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional visionary leadership with a track record of building and managing high-performance, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
