Android Developer

Location: Toronto, ON (2 days/week)

Duration: 3 months - Possible Extension

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Mobile Android Developer to support a large-scale mobile banking project. This role involves developing and maintaining Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android development frameworks. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Android application architecture, testing, and scalable mobile solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Android mobile applications using Kotlin
• Work with modern Android development tools and frameworks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment
• Participate in application architecture, design, testing, and deployment
• Ensure high performance, scalability, and maintainability of applications
• Support CI/CD pipelines and source control processes

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in mobile application development
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Kotlin on Android platform
• Strong experience with Android SDK (API Level 28+)
• Experience with libraries/frameworks such as Glide, Retrofit, Dagger2, etc.
• Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis & Design
• Experience with Android development tools including Android Studio, Gradle, Emulator, etc.
• Experience with software design patterns such as MVC, MVP, and MVVM
• Experience with automated testing using JUnit, Robolectric, and Espresso
• Experience working with RESTful and SOAP web services
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and build processes
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

• Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Knowledge of OAuth, OpenID, and security protocols
• Experience with tools such as Dynatrace, SonarQube, Crashlytics
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies
• Knowledge of AngularJS, Backbone, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX
• Experience with Windows, Unix/Linux, WebSphere, or JBoss
• Leadership or mentoring experience
• Experience working with distributed/onshore-offshore teams
• Financial services industry experience
