Senior Backend Engineer (Typescript, Node.js)

Rate: €350 - €380 per day

Role Location: EU (Remote) - Must be based in the EU and can work as a freelancer without requiring sponsorship.

The Company

A leading European fintech group, operating a unified commerce and payments platform used by e-commerce and retail businesses across multiple markets. The business spans several European locations and employs a team of over 750 specialists.

Role And Responsibilities

Design, build and maintain scalable backend services using TypeScript and Node.js within a microservice architecture
Manage and evolve cloud infrastructure on GCP, using Kubernetes for container orchestration and IaC tools such as Terraform or Pulumi
Own CI/CD pipelines across CircleCI, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD
Implement and maintain observability and monitoring solutions using Datadog
Work with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases at scale
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, business-aligned solutions
Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers within the team

Job Requirements

6+ years of experience in backend application design and testing
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
Hands-on experience with GCP, Kubernetes, and IaC (Terraform or Pulumi)
Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases
Experience with CI/CD tooling (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD)
Familiarity with Datadog or equivalent observability platforms
Proven ability to deliver complex projects, ideally within fintech or payments
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
