Product Engineer (Startup)
This is not a normal full‑stack role. We’re hiring product builders who have already survived 5–30 person startups, ship end‑to‑end features alone, and move fast without process.
The role in a nutshell
Title: Product Engineer
Location: Remote, CET ±2 (or specify if EU‑only)
Experience target: 2–5 years, but only if in early‑stage startups (seed–Series A, <30 people)
Compensation: Competitive salary + meaningful equity (range to be discussed)
Reporting to: CTO / Co‑founder
Team size: 30+ (Around 10+ engineers)
Ownership: End‑to‑end features: backend, frontend, infra, debugging, architectural decisions – no handoffs
What you’ll do
- Ship alone – Build and own features from database to UI, without waiting for a team.
- Move fast – Weekly or daily deployments. No heavy process, no long planning cycles.
- Own production – Debug issues, scale what breaks, make calls without escalation chains.
- Build across the stack – TypeScript, Node.js, Vue or React, AWS, APIs, databases. GraphQL/Kafka/WebSockets are nice but not required.
- Thrive in ambiguity – Requirements change. Priorities shift. You’ll figure it out and ship anyway.
Who you are (non‑negotiable filters)
Must have:
- Worked in a 5–30 person, seed‑to‑Series A startup – you know what chaos and speed feel like.
- Shipped end‑to‑end features alone – backend, frontend, and everything in between.
- Comfortable with TypeScript, Node.js, Vue or React, AWS – you can build and deploy independently.
- Bias to action – you make decisions quickly and own the outcome.
- Clear, fast communicator – no over‑explaining. You write well, speak concisely, and move.
Why you’ll love this
- Extreme ownership – You’re not a ticket‑taker. You decide what to build and how.
- No bureaucracy – No pointless meetings, no design docs that take weeks.
- High velocity – Ship daily if you want. We reward action, not analysis.
- Build with founders – Work directly with people who started the company.
- Equity that matters – Early engineer in a growing startup.
How we hire
- Quick screen (15 min) – Chat about your startup experience and ownership style.
- Take‑home (max 2 hours) – Build a small feature end‑to‑end.
- Live review (45 min) – Walk through your code and decisions.
- Offer – Usually within 48 hours of the final interview.
