Make a meaningful impact as a Senior Advisor (Privacy) within the Right to Information & Privacy team at the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business. In this role, you will provide expert advice on privacy and information access, undertake privacy impact assessments, and exercise delegated decision-making under the Information Privacy Act 2009. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, manage privacy enquiries and complaints and promote a strong culture of privacy compliance across the department.

As The Senior Advisor (Privacy), You Will
- Provide advice to members of the public on information privacy and other information access practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability in the conduct of privacy impact assessments, identifying the information flow of a project or program and recommendations for compliance with the privacy principles.
- Exercise decision making powers under the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) as delegated. Document decisions in a manner which is clear and comprehensive, whilst being succinct and meeting the requirements of high quality statement of reasons.
- Assist in managing the department's response to information privacy enquiries and complaints relating to the handling of personal information. Mediate and negotiate the resolution of information privacy enquiries and complaints.
- Promote a culture of privacy compliance identifying the on-going educational needs of the department in relation to information privacy and manage the development and delivery of training sessions and associated material to ensure departmental officers are aware of and comply with the Information Privacy Act 2009.
- Assist in the preparation of the department's Information Privacy Plan, reports, correspondence, Cabinet, Ministerial, Director-General briefs, submissions to the Office of the Information Commissioner.
- Take responsibility to deliver on agreed outcomes, demonstrate and foster high standards of professionalism and ethical behaviour, demonstrate self-awareness and a commitment to personal development.
- Manage records in accordance with the Public Records Act 2002 and associated departmental standards and policies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, privacy management or a related field. Specific knowledge of, and experience in, the Information Privacy Act 2009 and its Queensland Privacy Principles would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, conducting risk assessments. Specific knowledge of, and experience in, conducting Privacy Impact Assessments would be highly regarded.
- Skills and ability to apply and interpret legislation, including relevant decision-making processes.
- Ability to communicate the application of privacy principles in simple terms, including developing and delivering training.
- Skills and ability to manage competing priorities, deliver quality work outcomes and ensure legislative needs are achieved within scheduled scope and timeframe.
- Accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence and transparency.
