R&D Data Scientist – Therapeutics Discovery (TD)

We are seeking a talented R&D Data Scientist to join a cutting-edge Therapeutics Discovery (TD) team. This role sits within a high-impact R&D Data Science function, focused on applying Machine Learning and Data Engineering to accelerate drug discovery and scientific innovation.

You’ll work at the intersection of data science and biology, collaborating with scientists, engineers, and technologists to turn complex datasets into actionable insights that drive the development of next-generation therapies.


What You’ll Do

  • Develop and apply advanced ML/AI models to support key discovery activities such as target identification, multi-omics integration, and mechanistic insights
  • Work with diverse datasets (chemical, biological, imaging, assay data) using modern approaches such as deep learning, graph learning, and generative models
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines to integrate and standardise R&D data
  • Partner with platform and engineering teams to deploy models using MLOps best practices
  • Collaborate closely with scientists to translate complex experimental data into insights that inform discovery decisions
  • Contribute to experiment design, data interpretation, and iterative research improvements
  • Support innovation by evaluating new tools, technologies, and data platforms


What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Master’s or PhD in a relevant field (e.g. Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science)
  • Hands-on experience applying ML/AI in scientific or research environments
  • Strong Python skills and experience with tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, RDKit
  • Experience in data engineering, including pipelines, ETL/ELT, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with scientific teams

Desirable:

  • Experience in pharma or biotech discovery environments
  • Familiarity with omics data, imaging, or assay datasets
  • Knowledge of data standards (e.g. FAIR principles) and regulated environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
