Software Engineer

Truckit.net is Australia's largest freight marketplace, connecting consumers and businesses with transport providers across the country. We're a product-led, technology-first business with real momentum — our AI-enabled instant freight pricing is live and gaining traction, and we're building fast.

We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who wants more than a ticket queue. You'll make architectural decisions, set the technical bar for the team, and ship features that real users rely on every day.

WHY THIS ROLE

This is a hands-on senior role inside a small, high-trust engineering team. You'll have genuine input into how things are built, the ability to move quickly, and the satisfaction of seeing your work in production fast. Engineering is at the centre of everything we do — not an afterthought.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Design, build and scale features across our PHP (Laravel) and Python (Django) backend
• Build responsive, data-heavy frontends using Angular (TypeScript, RxJS)
• Design and maintain efficient MySQL schemas and optimise complex queries
• Implement real-time and async workflows to support high-performance applications
• Deploy and manage services within AWS (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3) using Docker
• Contribute to and improve our CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and champion clean code and SOLID principles

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 5+ years of professional full-stack experience in an enterprise or high-growth environment
• Strong backend skills in PHP (Laravel) and/or Python (Django)
• Solid Angular experience and comfort building complex, data-heavy UIs
• Strong SQL fundamentals including performance tuning and schema design
• Hands-on AWS and Docker experience
• Clear communication skills and the ability to translate business problems into technical solutions

BONUS POINTS FOR

• Experience with AG Grid Enterprise (server-side filtering, sorting, integration)
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code via CloudFormation
• Experience producing technical documentation and system architecture diagrams
