Blockchain Founding Engineer

About the Role

We’re building Kavodax – a Fintech and blockchain platform designed to move fast and solve real problems. As our Founding Engineer, you won’t be handed a backlog and told to execute. You’ll help define what we build, how we build it, and why.

This is for someone who’s done it before and wants to do it again but this time with equity and the opportunity to shape something from day one.

Technical Skills

• Strong backend engineering experience — distributed systems, APIs, and production-grade architecture
• Blockchain / Web3 experience — smart contracts, DeFi protocols, EVM and non-EVM chains. You’ve shipped real on-chain products.
• Fintech domain knowledge — payments, compliance rails, or financial data is a strong plus
• System design — you’ve made real architectural decisions on production systems and lived with the consequences

Leadership & Experience

• Owned full project lifecycles — from scoping and design through shipping and iterating
• Made architectural decisions that affected real users at scale
• Mentored other engineers and made the team around you better
• Works well independently but collaborates when it counts
• Takes ownership seriously — if something breaks, you want to fix it, not just file a ticket

Compensation

This role starts as equity-only — meaningful equity in a company you help build from the ground up. Monetary compensation follows as the company grows. We’re transparent about where we are: early, hungry, and moving fast. 

Eligibility

• Based in Toronto or Waterloo, Ontario
• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (no sponsorship available at this time)
• Full-time only — this isn’t a side project
• 8–12 years of professional software engineering experience
