This role leverages deep Android and telephony expertise to enhance functionality for millions of users while providing the technical leadership necessary to mentor junior engineers and instill a culture of excellence. Our team is responsible for the entire subscriber journey, from plan selection and device activation to providing award-winning coverage around the world. Our team's deep expertise spans cellular network operations, iOS and Android app development, and subscription business operations.

The Fi team applies Google's AI to solve complex, real-world problems - from AI-enhanced call audio to AI billing summaries to AI-powered cohort analysis - that helps Google Fi customers stay reliably connected to what’s most important to them.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Leverage deep expertise in the Android framework and telephony stack to solve complex, low-level integration challenges that define our network’s performance.
  • Optimize our release management lifecycles to ensure that user-facing features reach millions of devices with uncompromising stability and velocity.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and address technical debt, improve the app's performance, and ensure its stability and reliability.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to translate product requirements and designs into a seamless user experience.
