We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with strong experience in cloud-based system administration, software development, and automation. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code solutions, and monitoring frameworks to support the availability, scalability, and performance of enterprise platforms.
You will work closely with Engineering and IT Operations teams to enhance system reliability, streamline deployment processes, and drive continuous improvement across technology environments. This role requires a proactive approach to automation, operational excellence, and modern DevOps practice
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and implement best practices for deploying and managing applications in cloud environments, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies and services.
- Design and configure infrastructure solutions across GCP, VMware, Linux, and Windows environments to support high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Develop and maintain automated deployment, configuration, and monitoring frameworks using tools such as Terraform and Puppet to streamline infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to establish and optimise CI/CD pipelines, improve release management processes, and enhance software delivery workflows.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise system and application performance to ensure reliable and responsive cloud infrastructure.
- Implement security controls and industry best practices to protect systems, applications, and data.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, DevOps trends, and best practices, providing recommendations to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Partner with Engineering teams to improve application performance and operational efficiency across diverse technology architectures.
Skills & Experience
Cloud Platforms
- Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, CloudSQL, and Identity and Access Management (IAM).
Virtualisation & Operating Systems
- Proficiency in VMware technologies, Linux environments (Red Hat, CentOS, or similar), and Windows Server administration.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles, with hands-on experience using Terraform and Puppet for provisioning and configuration management.
Automation & Scripting
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
CI/CD & DevOps Tools
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD.
Containers & Orchestration
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
Networking & Security
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security best practices, along with experience using monitoring and logging tools.
Web & Caching Technologies
- Knowledge of technologies such as Nginx, HAProxy, and Varnish.
Application Development & Data Stores
- Familiarity with developing system or software solutions using technologies including Python, PHP, SQL, Memcached, Redis, SOLR, Elasticsearch (ELK), Graphite, and StatsD.
Directory Services
- Understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise systems administration is highly regarded.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to work independently.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
