Senior Software Development Engineer (Android)

About The Team

As a member of our Mobile Engineering Team, you will be a part of a highly engaging atmosphere that includes deep collaboration with the Product and Design teams. In this role, you will push the boundaries of what we can deliver to our customers. We offer a compelling technology stack that includes Android SDKs, Up-to-date architectural patterns and development practices, Java/Kotlin, GraphQL, Espresso, and robust continuous delivery pipelines using Jenkins, among others.

About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Being an advocate for mobile development best practices
• Crafting the future of our next mobile app & platform development strategy
• Building resilient and scalable applications with the right architecture/design and production level quality
• Designing, developing, and Unit/UI testing large-scaled mobile applications
• Collaborating with multi-functional teams to define, design, and deliver critical features
• Rapid prototyping and collaborating with the design team on new, forward-thinking ways to shop real estate
• Proactively looking for potential quality issues
• Actively contributing to code reviews and Root Cause Analysis sessions
  
  

This role has been categorized as an Office position. “Office” employees regularly work at the Zillow India office for approximately 80 to 100 percent of their time each month. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Zillow has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute.

In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role are eligible for incentive compensation subject to applicable laws and relevant Zillow policies. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

• 5+ years in delivering native applications for Android with a deep understanding of a consumer app life-cycle
• 3+ years of experience with Java (experience with Kotlin is a bonus)
• You have a genuine interest in shipping quality applications and a belief in engineering excellence
• You thrive in an agile environment (i.e., SCRUM)
• You have the ability to effectively communicate across teams and with other product stakeholders
• You are passionate about guiding/mentoring junior developers on the team and have a strong belief for effective code reviews
• You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience
