Software Engineer (MLOPS background)

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong backend and MLOps experience for a client of ours in Amsterdam.

Role requires someone with kvk/zzp and is paying about 110 euros an hour.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services using Java/Scala and JVM technologies.
• Develop reliable ML serving and distributed systems with a focus on low latency and high throughput.
• Manage and improve Kubernetes-based infrastructure across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Optimize system performance through profiling, benchmarking, and capacity testing.
• Implement observability using metrics, logging, dashboards, and alerting tools.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and safe rollout strategies.
• Collaborate with ML engineers and product teams to deliver reliable platform capabilities.
• Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend/software engineering experience in production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Scala, or other JVM languages.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, scalability, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerized deployments, autoscaling, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana and Graphite.
• Experience with cron jobs, batch workloads, and automation in production systems.
• Comfortable working in Linux-based environments and modern CI/CD workflows.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with ML infrastructure, model serving, or data-intensive systems.
• Exposure to hybrid cloud or infrastructure modernization projects.
• Familiarity with Spark or large-scale batch processing systems.
• SRE or platform engineering background.
