Cisco LAN & Wireless Networks

The Level 3 Engineer will be responsible for the expert-level configuration, optimization, troubleshooting, and management of ARUBA, Cisco LAN & Wireless Networks and F5 BIG-IP solutions (LTM, GTM, APM). This role ensures the optimal performance, high availability, and security of network infrastructure and application delivery systems across a large-scale enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities:

ARUBA

Cisco LAN & Wireless Networks:

  • LAN Switches (Cisco Catalyst, Nexus): Design, configure, and optimize LAN architectures, including VLANs, STP, QoS, and routing protocols. Manage high-availability designs and troubleshoot complex Layer 2/Layer 3 issues.
  • Wireless Networks (WLC & APs): Lead design and troubleshooting of Cisco WLAN solutions, optimize wireless security (WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X), and manage guest access and roaming issues.

F5 BIG-IP Configuration & Management:

  • Deployment & Management: Design and manage F5 BIG-IP solutions (LTM, GTM, APM), including advanced load balancing, SSL offloading, and traffic management.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide expert troubleshooting for F5 application delivery issues, including traffic routing, SSL termination, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Integration & Security: Integrate F5 with network security solutions, and implement DDoS mitigation and DNSSEC.

Network & Application Performance:

  • Monitor and optimize the performance of Cisco and F5 systems using tools like SolarWinds and Wireshark. Perform capacity planning and recommend optimizations to improve throughput and reduce latency.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure security best practices for both Cisco and F5 systems, including encryption (SSL, TLS), 802.1X, and access control. Stay current with emerging threats and implement necessary patches.

Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Work with cross-functional teams (network, security, application) to design and deploy solutions. Document network designs, F5 configurations, and troubleshooting procedures. Lead post-incident analyses and provide training for junior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • ARUBA
  • Cisco Networking: 8-12 years of experience with Cisco networking (LAN switches, routers, wireless), with expertise in Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols and network design principles.
  • F5 BIG-IP Expertise: Extensive experience with F5 BIG-IP devices (LTM, GTM, APM), including load balancing, SSL offloading, iRules, and troubleshooting.
  • Tools & Monitoring: Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark), and experience with network automation (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Certifications: Cisco CCNP/CCIE, F5 Certified Administrator, or F5 Certified BIG-IP Specialist; security certifications (e.g., CISSP) are a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
