Python Developer

Key Responsibilities

Technical Oversight & Contributions

• Review and merge Pull Requests; provide constructive, quality-focused feedback to developers
• Contribute directly to the codebase via PRs: refactors, bug fixes, dependency updates, and security patches
• Conduct technical design and analysis of new requirements
• Investigate and propose solutions for complex support issues
• Oversee release processes: planning, retagging, updating images, migrations, and scripts
• Maintain repository ownership: access permissions, user flows, and branch policies
• Support infrastructure configuration and troubleshooting

Team Coordination & Support

• Unblock developers by clarifying requirements and discussing technical alternatives
• Write and refine technical backlog items (refactors, dependency updates, fixes)
• Provide technical input to timelines and effort estimates for new features
• Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing within a distributed, multicultural team

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as secondary technical focal point with stakeholders, complementing the Project Manager
• Assess feasibility of proposed enhancements; negotiate alternatives when requirements are not viable
• Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Interface with other ICTD technical teams to align on requirements, scope, and timelines
• Engage with support specialists: share technical insights, gather feedback, and provide guidance

Requirements

Must-Have

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with at least 2 years in a technical senior coordination role
• Strong proficiency in Python and Django (backend APIs and admin interface)
• Solid experience with React or the ability to review and coordinate frontend contributions
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployment environments
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate a distributed development team
• Strong ownership mindset: proactive, reliable, and able to drive delivery without close supervision
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical complexity for non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with Agile/Scrum workflows and managing technical backlogs

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with release management and CI/CD pipelines
• Background working in multicultural or geographically distributed teams
