Backend Developer Intern — Node.js / Cloud

XR Solutions builds augmented reality tools for industrial clients — think factory floors, heavy machinery, complex maintenance workflows. We use machine learning to make AR actually useful in those environments, not just flashy. Our team is small, the problems are real, and the tech ships to production.

The role

This is a hands-on backend role with real ownership.

You’ll design, build, and improve backend services that support XR applications in the field — including APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, contribute to technical decisions, and be expected to operate with a high level of independence.

What you’ll do

• Design and build scalable REST APIs (Node.js, TypeScript)
• Model and optimize PostgreSQL databases
• Work with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and service architecture
• Integrate backend systems with AR applications and ML pipelines
• Improve performance, reliability, and system design
• Write and maintain tests (unit & integration)
• Debug and resolve real production issues

What we’re looking for

• Solid experience in backend development (Node.js or similar)
• Strong understanding of APIs, databases, and system design
• Comfortable working independently and making technical decisions
• Experience with JavaScript / TypeScript
• AWS or other cloud platforms
• CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
• Experience with scalable or distributed systems

We value engineers who take ownership, write clean and maintainable code, and can move from problem to solution without heavy guidance.
